ICStation.com’s 125KHz RFID reader with TTL output

There are RFID-reader modules which have SPI, I2C or even some “custom” intefaces. One that I test in this video has UART output and ID of the tag will be sent as soon as it has been detected. Super simple to use with Arduino: Connect output pin to RX pin of Arduino (I recommend to use SoftwareSerial, then you can use any GPIO pin), check if there is data available in the input buffer of serial port and if there is, process the data. I used readString() -function to read incoming data. Then to get first detected ID on that string, I used something like this, where “data” is variable containing the result of readString(): String id = data.substring(data.indexOf(0x02)+1, data.indexOf(0x03)-1); IDs that I got from this module started with byte 0x02 (Ascii code for ‘star of text’), then some
