Apple to Enter Movie Business With Animated Film

Bloomberg is reporting that Apple Inc. is close to a deal for the rights to an animated movie as part of its upcoming slate of original content. Apple is in talks with Cartoon Saloon, an Ireland-based, Oscar-nominated animation studio. There are no details on the movie and no actors or directors have been tapped to be a part of the film just yet. The movie is said to be more than a year from release, but Apple has been in talks to buy distribution rights for the U.S. and some other countries. There are no plans on how the movie will be streamed or made available, but it would have to be released theatrically to be considered for Academy Awards.
