Washing Amela – Something Special About a Simple Body Wash

There’s something so special about washing a baby, or giving oneself a nice warm wash in a bathtub or shower. For me it has to be warm, whether I was sweating or when it’s cold outside – I do warm. So we finally arrive in Butiru, and we meet this precious child we’ve spend hours looking for. A neighbor who hears we’ve come to look for her gets shocked that we would come all the way from Bungoma, Kenya for her, and says, “But she won’t make it.” We rebuke her as expected! We pull into their little yard only to find her lain down in rags, with a swarm of flies on her face and around the dirty rags she’s covered in. It’s hard to imagine someone is in those rags when we first set our eyes on that spot. It seems as though there’s no one there, just some dirty baby shawls on the dry ground, near

Can you make it to the end?

Understand autism, the person and what to do. Visit I’m not naughty. I’m autistic. For autistic people like me, the world can be a terrifying place. Sometimes sounds feel like my head is exploding. Clothes feel like my skin is burning. And when a tiny thing changes, it feels like my world is ending. Sometimes I get too much information. And if you only see a naughty kid, you haven’t got enough. #AutismTMI Warning: this film contains flashing lights, bright colours and loud, sudden noises

Gina built her farm through microloans

April is the Month of Microfinance, so it’s the perfect time to honor the hard work of borrowers around the world like Gina, a farmer in the Philippines. Gina is an inspiring example of how multiple microloans can help a family over many years, enabling them to steadily build a business and improve their lives. Watch her story and share to celebrate #MOMF16 Why we do what we do at Kiva: We envision a world where all people – even in the most remote areas of the globe – hold the power to create opportunity for themselves and others. We believe providing safe, affordable access to capital to those in need helps people create better lives for themselves and their families. How we do it: Making a loan on Kiva is so simple that you may not realize how much work goes

Which photo makes you stop? | Oxfam GB

The world is in the middle of the most serious refugee crisis since the Second World War. Now is the time to Stand as One: po.st/sao When photojournalist Sam Tarling moved to Beirut seven years ago, Syria was a place to visit for a weekend. It was impossible then to think that a few years later he would be working in deserted cities and informal settlements, documenting the lives of some of the estimated two million Syrians who have fled from the war in their country. He has covered the story almost eighty times since 2011, taking well over fifty thousand photos. Here are a few of them, along with his thoughts about the conflict and his work.
