Food Friday: Promoting cultivation of traditional crops to tackle food security

Farmers know better than anyone else the challenges that are associated with unpredictable weather patterns as well as insufficient rainfall. To make farming more viable especially in the semi-arid regions of Baringo and Elgeyo-Marakwet Counties, researchers from Egerton University in collaboration with the County Government of Elgeyo-Marakwet are promoting the cultivation of traditional crops such as groundnuts as a way of tackling food insecurity and boosting farmers’ earnings.
